Patience is a virtue?
My mind feels like a roller coaster, but I’m not actually moving. I didn’t leave my room once today - not once. It’s too bad because there was probably a lot of Independence celebrations going on - would have been really fun to see it.
Many other guests here are Muslim and their holy month of Ramadan began on August 12. You can only eat before the sun rises and after the sun sets - daylights hours are for fasting all food and liquid (including water). It’s a month to focus on prayer and patience. I decided to try a few days starting Saturday morning at 3:00AM. Luke and I went to eat breakfast with other guests in the dining hall. We had chai tea, omelettes, toast, and delicious paratha (deep fried flat bread). I didn’t get to sleep until after 5:00AM just because my mind is so off schedule. I woke up a few times to weird sounds - like a dinosaur slowly stomping around - but figured it was all part of Pakistan’s Independence Celebrations. I slept until 2:30PM. But, just stayed in bed. Turned on the telly, turned on the laptop and just started the round again of breaking down different scripts and creating budget templates. I didn’t eat anything until after 7:00PM (actually I had a *tiny* piece of chocolate and some water at 5:00PM, but let’s not count that). We had Domino’s Pizza - tasted just like the States. It was good. Tomorrow, I’m going to create a modified fast - just drinking water until sunset, no breakfast or food. I’ll see how that goes and let you know.
What are some other ways to learn patience?
